    Welcome to The GreySitting Network!

Those of us who are owned by these beautiful hounds know that they aren't like other dogs ... they have certain quirks that require special attention, such as being extra watchful of open doors and small animals. Many of us see our greyhounds as children ... furry, but children nonetheless.
SO ...

With that in mind, and with the number of people that I know who own greyhounds just in my own little part of the world, I thought it might be useful to have one spot where we can come and link up. If you are looking for someone to watch your furkid(s), or if you are interested in helping out another greyhound whose skin-parents are going to be out of town for a bit, you've come to the right place!

Registration

Yes, in order to view, contact, or become a GreySitter, you have to register. This does three things:
  1. Avoids letting people see personal information by just browsing casually through the site - only registered, approved members can see other members' personal profiles
  2. Provides sense of community to those who have registered and maintain their activity - we're all part of something
  3. Gives the administration a small measure of authority in keeping people in line, if it should become necessary
Please note that GreySitter Membership is by approval only.  Once you have registered your account, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire, either by email or online. This is done to protect the privacy of all of our members - you included - and until completed, you will only have access to the public sections of the site.

Open Door Policy

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, problems, or suggestions. I am frequently lurking and constantly making sure things are running smoothly. I will respond as quickly and as best as I can to any communication I receive. One request - please keep things polite and calm - yelling and hollering is likely to get you quickly and quietly removed

News & Announcements

Hey all ... sorry for the unexpected downtime - I hope it didn't scare anyone away!!

Apparently the upgrade wasn't as smooth as I had originally thought and I had to track down and squash a couple of bugs.  Everything appears to be back in working order - please let me know if you notice anything weird.

I have had some trouble with people not receiving their welcome emails, and thus not being able to complete their account registration.  I haven't been able to figure out if it's email programs being snippy or junk filters being overly pro-active, and Yahoo seems to be the biggest culprit at the moment.

So to combat the frustration that people are having with signing up, I have just finished adding an online option - now new registrations will automatically be activated, but will not have access until their questionnaire is complete - either online or by email.

If you are one of the poor people who has been waiting for the email, please feel free to jump to the online version.

So it would seem that the nifty little theme that I had installed was actually preventing people from registering!  I've switched everything back to the default for now until I can manage to get the theme fixed.  In the meantime, I hope that anyone who has tried to register will try again!!  I've only heard from one person but there were at least 3 or 4 separate instances on the error logs.

This link was posted on the GH-L this morning ... I have emailed my family and friends who have pets to make sure that they are aware.

http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/petfoodrecall/

The page was updated recently and some foods have been added or changed.  PLEASE check the food(s) that you feed your pets and make sure they are not on the list.  Many places will let you return recalled foods - it's much better than taking a chance!
